Getting Here

Situated at the northern end of the Strait of Georgia, between Vancouver Island and the mainland, Cortes Island can be reached by ferry from Vancouver Island, float plane from Seattle and Vancouver in the summer and water taxi from Campbell River.

From Vancouver you have to take a ferry to Nanaimo then drive north to Campell River about an hour and a half on the Island Highway 19 (157 km)

A 10-minute ferry ride from Campbell River lands you at Quathiaski Cove on the west coast of Quadra Island. A 15-minute drive across to the east coast of Quadra brings you to Heriot Bay, the ferry terminal for the 45-minute ferry trip across Sutil Channel to Cortes Island. The journey from Vancouver will take about six hours if you make all your ferry connections. Once on Cortes there is good signage to help you find your way around.

To head to Potlatch Haven follow the signs to Smelt Bay Provincial Park until the road turns left on to Sutil Point Road. Stay on Smelt Bay Road and proceed straight down the hill keeping the ocean in front of you. Potlatch Road is the first right turn, continue .4km and you will see the Potlatch Haven sign on the right hand side.
